A CHARITY is appealing to disabled people and their carers to take part in a survey to have their say on how they get around in Dorset.
Access Dorset is undertaking the survey to find out how accessible the county is from public transport to parking and kerbs.
Jonathan Waddington-Jones, chief executive of the charity, said: “For many disabled and older people, travelling to a town centre and getting around can be challenging and simple measures such as removing street clutter and obstacles in shops can make an enormous difference.
“Disabled and older people are overlooked too often, yet they are an important part of our community, “As well as the ethical responsibility of making high streets accessible to all, there’s a strong economic argument for making their shopping experience easier.”
The survey will be carried out from Monday by the charity’s consultation group Team AD100, which was launched earlier this year.
Participants are anonymous and will be entered into a prize draw. The results of the survey will be presented to councils and traders. To take part in the survey, email gemma@accessdorset. org.uk or call 01202 771336.
