COMFORT boxes will be given to women suffering from postnatal depression at a new Portland charity.
Katie Goff, of King Street, Fortuneswell on Portland is setting up her own charity to help women suffering in the area.
The Butterfly Box is an idea created by Katie, 30, who suffers from postnatal depression.
It aims to set up a new scheme in partnership with local GPs to give out comfort boxes full of health and beauty products and self help material. Katie said: “There’s not enough help out there for women. I will drive round to the GPs myself and give out the butterfly boxes, in the hope that it can help women in Portland and eventually wider.”
On Saturday, August 4 she will be holding a Ladies Night at Westhaven House, Radipole Lane, Weymouth, to fundraise for the cause and get more people involved.
The fundraiser starts at 7pm and will have craft stalls, a tombola, raffles and prizes.
The Flamingo Room will also be offering hair and beauty treatments and a variety of jewellery and products from retailers such as Cushty Cakes, Enchanted Materials, Ann Summers and Island Beauty and Skincare which have been kindly donated. Tickets are £3.50.
Once the cause reaches 5,000 people then The Butterfly Box can become a registered charity.
The fundraiser on Saturday aims to get more people on board so that the scheme, which is already underway on Portland, can continue to grow.
