A HEROIC effort has seen youngsters put together a feast of festival entertainment for their peers in Dorchester .

The popular Anonymous Festival, which is organised with input from local youngsters, returns to the county town on Saturday, August 25 and this year will boast a superhero theme.

The packed programme at Maumbury Rings will include musical performances from local acts such as The Indices, Dreads and Lyrical Agent as well as a range of stalls, activities workshops and other entertainment.

There will be theatrical performances from Le Navet Bete and Small Pond Theatre as well as the chance to try the balance sport slacklining and free running.

Other activities on offer at the festival, which has been running since 2009, will include zorbing, arts and crafts and a bouncy castle.

The main stage will feature performances from local dance groups as well as an open mic session for people to show off their musical talents.

Adam Kerslake from the youth group Dorchester Youth Extra said: “After a lot of hard work and dedication we think we have put together a really great event.

“Many people would be amazed by the wide variety of activities young people in Dorchester are involved with and I’d encourage them to come along.”

Community development officer for West Dorset District Council Emma Scott added: “This year we have really pulled out all the stops to make Anonymous a festival that showcases the wide range of activities young people enjoy. We have some amazing performance, theatre, sports and dance to inspire and entrance the audience.”
