With some trepidation my wife and I made a spur of the moment decision to take a train to Weymouth to see what we could experience of the Olympic sailing championships.
As we left the station we immediately met a couple of Weymouth and Portland Ambassadors who told us where we could find the big screens and gave us information on the various events taking place that day.
Everything seem so amazingly well organised with more smartly dressed Ambassadors always on hand whenever we needed advice.
We chose one of the rare days when the sun shone and the bars and cafes had a Mediterranean atmosphere with tables out on the pavements with everyone smiling and eager to please. We have heard reports that the numbers of visitors are disappointing which is really sad as everyone is working so hard to make them welcome. We had a wonderful day out and urge others to join in – go to Weymouth and experience the Olympic buzz.
