A DORSET man has died after falling 300ft from a mountain in Snowdonia.
The 23-year-old was walking with another 23-year-old man, also from Dorset, when he slipped and fell from a gully cliff face on Glyder Fach.
Mountain rescue teams and a helicopter were scrambled and the man was airlifted to hospital at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor but was pronounced dead.
The incident on Tuesday was witnessed by two climbers in the area. The climber and surviving walker were airlifted back to Ogwen Valley rescue base by an RAF Sea King rescue helicopter, while the casualty was carried down to a lower point before being airlifted.
Chris Lloyd from Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue said the two walkers had been looking for a way down off the mountain.
He said: “The two men were reasonably well-equipped, but it was a low mist and greasy underfoot.”
A spokesman for North Wales Police said the death was not suspicious.
The coroner has been notified.
