GORGEOUS beaches, beautiful coastline and a traditional fishing port are just some of the reasons to visit Weymouth, according to locals and visitors.
Residents, traders and visitors alike say the town is one of the best places to come to for a fantastic time by the sea.
Angela and Mark Ettridge, of Frome, Somerset, are camping in the area and say it is an easy place to get around.
Mrs Ettridge said: “We came down to watch the sailing on Monday and decided to stay for a few days to take in the sights.
“It’s a lot quieter than we thought it would be and it’s really easy to get around.
“There was no problem driving to town and parking.
“The whole area is so pretty, it seems like a really lovely town.”
Olympic ambassador Val-erie Collings, 56, of Preston , Weymouth, said the safe beach and beautiful coastline are one of her favourite things about the town.
She said: “There’s so much natural beauty, you only have to look around the coastline to see that.
“Weymouth has got one of the safest beaches in the world and one of the best waters.
“There’s the fishing harbour and the bay and everything is so compact.”
Pete Richmond, of Cafe Blue, on The Esplanade, said Weymouth seafront cannot be beaten.
He said: “You can’t beat Weymouth seafront on a sunny day, it’s gorgeous, one of the best beaches on the South Coast.
“If there was an Olympic competition for beaches Weymouth would get the gold medal.
“The seafront is looking really, really good after all the work that’s been done.”
Ruth Tapscott, 41, of Christchurch, said the town had everything you need to have a good time.
She said: “There are good shops and the train station is right in town.
“Weymouth has got everything you need, it’s perfect of a family holiday.”
