Parents are being invited to attend a free cooking event at Lesley Waters Cook School on as part of the national Fish is the Dish tour.
Run by Seafish, Fish is the Dish, has been designed to get parents cooking more seafood for the family. Events are being held the length and breadth of the UK to give cookery demonstrations and practical help and advice to take the fear out of cooking fish.
Hosted by TV chef, Lesley Waters there are two events for parents to attend on Saturday, August 18 Closworth Road in Halstock. The first runs from 11am to 1pm and the afternoon session runs from 2pm to 4pm. It’s on a first come first served basis. Lesley Waters said: “Down here on the Dorset coast we are spoiled for choice when it comes to seafood, but there’s still the fear factor for some people when it comes to cooking.
“Fish is such a healthy, versatile product and I love cooking it for my family.
“I’m looking forward to passing on some of my handy hint and tips to make it as easy as possible for parents to plan it into weekly mealtimes.”
The sessions will give parents tips on buying and preparing seafood, as well as giving them the chance to see live cooking demonstrations and even taste some new kinds of seafood.
“Responsible sourcing and seasonality will play a big role in the day and is designed to give consumers more confidence.
