CONGER cuddling in Lyme Regis has been cancelled.
The event planned for tonight has had to be called off after concerns from the authorities over public safety issues.
The “sport” was to be a highlight of the LymeLympics - a series of wacky seafront games.
A conger eel - frozen and thawed out for the occasion - was to be used in a giant version of bar skittles, with humans as the targets.
The other games, including “mermaid” races, a sea steeplechase and nettle-eating sprint, will go ahead as planned from 5pm.
