The local residents of Castletown have now started to see official Olympic vehicles parking on the street here, where parking for residents is very scarce and empty pay car parks are available nearby.
Despite numerous requests over the past couple of years, no provision was ever made to protect the ability of local residents to park during the Olympics and, indeed, the situation has been made worse by the coning off of whole areas round by the Castle, which used to act as an overflow area.
Residents cannot be expected to pay high car park fees and permits are not available to us. Presumably the Olympic officials can claim the parking charges on expenses?
