A COUPLE who enjoy sailing are celebrating 50 golden years together.
Malcolm and Rosemary Spicer, who are both 72 and live in Weymouth, marked their anniversary by renewing their vows on a boat at Castle Cove Sailing Club.
All their friends and family came to watch the ceremony which was performed by The Reverend Ada Whittock.
Mrs Spicer said: “It was a really lovely day in the sunshine. After the ceremony we all went back to the clubhouse overlooking Portland Harbour for cheese and wine.”
She added: “We’ve always done sailing; we met at the sailing club. It’s been a main point in our lives.”
They had their first date when they were 17, taking a walk down the beach together after sailing.
The couple, who have always lived in Weymouth, said: “Not much has changed in our lives; it makes us feel safe.”
Rosemary and Malcolm were married at Holy Trinity Church in Weymouth, where Rosemary’s parents were also married.
Malcolm said: “We enjoy each other’s company. I can’t imagine another life or being apart. I think we’re really lucky.”
Malcolm and Rosemary have two sons, Robin and Nicholas, and six grandchildren.
