A DEVOTED couple are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
Celia and William “Jack” Ellis, of Coronation Road, Portland , will mark the event on Thursday.
They were married at St John’s Church in town, the wedding cost five guineas and the reception at the Legion was a fun night with lots of dancing.
Celia Ellis, 81, said: “I picked a good one, not many people can say that.
“It’s been sixty years but it doesn’t seem like ten years ago that we met.”
They had their first date at the pictures in Weymouth and got married aged 21.
Celia said: “We are always together, we help one another. Young couples these days have separate lives but we have always gone about with each other.”
Jack, who was in the Navy, said: “We both get on well with each other.”
Sixty years together hasn’t dampened the romance as Celia says she is very happy she picked Jack.
