A WOMAN whose garden lights were stolen was treated to a cream tea by youngsters.
Dawn Davies of Weymouth was treated to afternoon tea by the young people at the town’s Steps Youth Project.
The youngsters wanted to take her out after they read her story in the Dorset Echo about how heartless thieves had taken her garden lights.
The group enjoyed afternoon tea at The Heights Hotel on Portland.
Area youth worker Tom Lane said: “Since we launched Young People Doing Good four years ago, youngsters from Steps have been undertaking projects of benefit to the community as well as committing regular ‘Random Acts of Kindness’. 
“This was certainly one of the most enjoyable things we have done because Dawn is such a special lady – it was a pleasure for us to meet and spend time with her.”
Mrs Davies, who is terminally-ill with cancer, said she has had her faith in people restored. She said since her garden lights had been stolen lots of people had asked her about them. She said: “It was a lovely day and the weather was nice as well.
“Everyboy’s been so good.
“I still have people stopping and asking me now if the lights have been replaced.”
She added that she had been given some good support.
Mrs Davies thanked the young people at Steps for their kindness.
Steph Chung, 17, said: “We wanted to do something nice for Mrs Davies and it was a great pleasure to take her for a lovely afternoon tea – we had fun.”
Ross Broughton-South, 18 said: “Mrs Davies is such a lovely lady and we had an awesome time eating a splendid tea, enjoying the fantastic views and chatting away – the time just flew by.”
