THIS Tuesday, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) will be staging an entertaining evening event to fundraise for the life-saving charity.

‘An audience with award winning RNLI photographer Nigel Millard’ will take place in the ICCI 360 arena in front of Weymouth Pavilion .

It starts at 7.30pm and will includes displays of Mr Millard’s most famous images, plus exciting video footage of RNLI rescues on panoramic screens during an informal interview with him.

Tamsin Thomas, regional spokesman for the RNLI, said: “Staging this event during the Olympics , while the eyes of the world will be on Weymouth and its seafaring community provides us with a fantastic chance to raise awareness and remind people that the RNLI saves lives at sea, and that without their support and generosity we could not function.”

Chairman of Weymouth’s RNLI lifeboat station Michael Gill added: “During the Olympic period and our volunteer crews will be on call around the clock to ensure that safety of the Weymouth and Portland coastlines is not compromised.

“With an additional half a million visitors this summer, our station, which is already the one of the busiest on the south coast, is likely to experience the busiest time ever in its history.”

Tickets cost a minimum donation of £5, which includes admission into the arena, a complimentary glass of wine and entry into a free draw to win one of six limited edition Nigel Millard illustrations.

Tickets are on sale at the RNLI shop in Weymouth and the Pavilion in advance, or on the door.
