OPPONENTS of plans for the St Michael’s estate in Bridport are staging a satirical presentation called ‘WDDC: The Opera!’ It will be presented by human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith and the Friends of St Michael’s Trading Estate with special guests also appearing in the show.
The event will be at the Electric Palace on August 2 at 8.15pm. It will include a re-enactment of the district council’s handling of the controversial applications for demolition in a Conservation Area and for the construction of housing at St Michael’s. Organisers said that although based on factual events, it is to be a satirical and humorous take on the workings of the planning system.
There will also be an open debate about the issue of local democracy and the district council.
A short film about St Michael’s Trading Estate by Adam Sliwa will also be screened and a display by the Trick Factory will end the event.
