I was a little disappointed to see some negative letters in the Echo and wanted to reply.
The Chesil Beach Centre was only officially opened on Saturday 21 and, until then, the toilet facilities were limited to a portable toilet in the carpark.
The new toilets are cleaned twice daily and regularly inspected.
Food pricing, yes we have had a Venison and Bacon Burger at £13.95 as a special but we have 15 dishes on the regular menu under £10 starting at £4.95.
We have children’s dishes at £3.50. Soft drinks start from £1.50.
Our prices are comparable or below similar venues in the area offering seated dining and we are also providing a takeaway facility soon for people wanting a breakfast roll and tea or coffee to takeaway for £5.
I can’t officially comment on parking charges but, in my opinion, they are in line with the rest of Dorset and the council has quickly smoothed the car park after the recent storms.
The feedback we have received has, on the whole, been very positive, we will make changes to try to meet expectations on cost and quality and value constructive feedback.
Watching the sun set over the Fleet from the centre is a privilege every evening I get to spend here.
We are not here for the Olympics , but to stay, and I think a cafe is an extremely effective way to fund a major tourist attraction that we should all be proud of.
