It was my privilege to carry the Olympic torch in Winfrith Newburgh. What a wonderful day it was and what support the parish council, villagers, family, friends and ex-colleagues gave myself and Lisa (from Ringwood).
I was so glad that although some way from home, I carried the torch in Winfrith. Everyone I knew who came was were equally thrilled at the super turnout and support. The village hall was open to everyone for tea and cakes and the celebrations continued afterwards. My very grateful thanks to the parish council for making us all feel so welcome and allowing me to be part of Winfrith’s history.
