Getting ready
OLYMPIC Rings have been causing a stir in Portland Harbour.
This picture of the iconic symbol was tweeted by Spanish windsurfer Marina Alabau who declared “Olympics!”
Dutch windsurfer Dorien Rjsselburge also posted a picture and said: “It’s all about these rings.”
Meanwhile the official British Sailing Team also tweeted a picture with the message: “Apparently there’s some small event happening soon in Weymouth and Portland.”
Ben’s effort
A VIDEO is providing insight into Olympic sailing champion Ben Ainslie’s preparation as he strives to achieve a fourth historic gold at the home Games.
The YouTube video called ‘Ben Ainslie – The Final Training Days’, produced by sponsors JP Morgan Asset Management, has so far had 1,622 views.
Team GB’s Ainslie says: “People ask what it would mean to win a fourth gold and be the world’s best sailor? Personally, it’s something I don’t think about.
“I can’t afford to, I just think about the goal for this Olympics and doing everything I can to be the best prepared.
“If I do that, win or lose, I’ll look back and say ‘I gave it everything’.
Ainslie’s coach David ‘Sid’ Howlett also provides insight into Ainslie’s spirit.
The Lymington’s sailing star will begin racing this Sunday in the Finn heavyweight dinghy class.
