Recently the Mencaps Andover Gateway Club paid another visit to Weymouth at the invitation of the landlord and customers of the Chapelhay Tavern.
Our visit was very special as it was to help raise funds for a new MV Freedom boat, a vessel our members have benefited from with three to four trips every year and paid for by money raised at various functions by the Chapelhay people.
This year was our opportunity to put something back.
One of the pub landlords from the Andover area came with us, helping to cook and serve a hog roast with entertainment by Sheryl Lee who sang and encouraged our members to join her in karaoke and dancing.
With raffle prizes coming from local businesses we were able to hand over £200 towards the fund for a new vessel.
May I take this opportunity to thank the people of Weymouth for their fantastic generosity, making it possible for our group and others to enjoy sea voyages aboard MV Freedom.
HM Bowsher, Gateway Club Leader
