STUDENTS from Thomas Hardye School had a spring in their step during their latest fundraising event as they prepare for the trip of a lifetime.
Pupils from the Dorchester school who are going to Borneo next summer organised a sponsored 24-hour trampoline marathon to boost their fundraising efforts.
The 15 students took shifts on the trampolines at the Thomas Hardye Leisure Centre as they bounced through the night to complete their challenge.
Teacher Emma Moran, who will be accompanying the youngsters, said teamwork was the key to their success.
She said: “We wanted to do something partly to get fit because they are going to be doing some jungle trekking and maybe some construction work out there and also we just wanted to do something that would get people interested.
“They were pretty tired by the end of it but they were really amazing at organising themselves with waking each other up to do their stints and everything.
“It was quite a nice team building experience for them as well and it was good to get them all working together.”
The students were cheered on during the day and fundraising at the event saw over £300 collected, with pupils also getting individual sponsorship. Each pupil needs to raise around £4,000 for the trip.
Miss Moran said: “We started last September with the fundraising and we are about halfway now as they are going next year.”
