Dorchester’S Borough Gardens have been recognised for being amongst the best green spaces in the country for a fifth consecutive year.
The county town gardens are to be recognised with a Green Flag Award for another year and it also a received a Green Heritage Award, given to parks that are well maintained and well managed with excellent facilities.
The Green Flag for 2012 will be officially raised by Dorchester mayor Andy Canning at the Love Parks celebrations in the gardens on Wednesday, July 25, which will see a host of activities and events for visitors to enjoy.
Compliance manager for Dorchester Town Council Peter Mullins said the award was all down to the dedicated team who kept the gardens in such good condition.
A record 1,424 parks and green spaces across the country have been recognised with a Green Flag or Community Award this year.
