DORCHESTER’S Old Crown Court and cells are opening for people to explore for free this summer.
Experienced guides will be on hand to offer visitors an insight into the historic court, which hosted the trial of the Tolpuddle Martyrs in 1834.
It will also be open this Saturday from 10am to 1pm in conjunction with the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival.
West Dorset District Council leader Robert Gould said: “We are very lucky to have such an important part of history right here in the county town. The court and cells are open to everyone free of charge, so come along and hear the fascinating story of The Tolpuddle Martyrs.”
The Old Crown Court and cells at Stratton House in High West Street will be open from 2pm to 4.30pm on Mondays and Thursdays.
