A BEHIND the scenes look at Dorset County Museum’s archives will form part of a series of events celebrating the Festival of British Archaeology.
The Dorchester museum has organised three very different events this month to mark the festival run by the Council for British Archaeology.
On Tuesday, July 17, the museum will run tours of the Roman Town House behind County Hall in Dorchester with a rare opportunity to go inside the house and see the mosaic floors at close range.
Tours will run at 10.30am, noon, 1.30pm and 3.30pm with tickets, costing £6.50, available from the Dorset County Mus-eum shop.
On Saturday, July 21, the museum is hosting a study day entitled Digging for History with a series of expert speakers.
Tickets cost £12.50 and are available from the Dorset History Centre in Bridport Road or by calling 01305 250550.
The final event will see tours of the museum’s archaeology stores at All Saints Church in Dorchester. Tours run from 10.30am, noon, 1.30pm and 3.30pm on Tuesday, July 24.
Tickets cost £6.50 and are available from the museum shop or on 01305 756827.
Dorset County Museum director Jon Murden said: “This is a fantastic opportunity.”
