The Weldmar fete at the Joseph Weld Hospice is Dorchester has been postponed due to the bad weather.
The meadow at the hospice is waterlogged and the decision has been taken to postpone the forthcoming fete from Saturday July 21until Saturday September 15. This is the first time in the history of the Hospice that this has happened.
The annual summer fete one of the hospice’s major fundraising events for the year and is even more important to the trust in these difficult economic times.
Director of Fundraising Caroline Nickinson said: “We are so disappointed but, with the forecast indicating even more rain in the coming days, it really was the only sensible decision to make. “We very much hope that everyone will come and have an enjoyable day with us on Saturday September 15 when we hope the sun will be shining.”
