PEOPLE who missed out getting tickets for tomorrow night's party on the beach can watch the action on a large screen.

The 25 square metre screen will be placed behind the main stage, outside the ticketed area, and facing northwards up the beach and will relay the live activity happening on stage to those without wristbands for the event.

People without tickets will also be able to watch the arrival of the Olympic Flame as it is transported by a rowing gig along the beach before coming ashore next to the evening celebration site.

Those with wristbands should go to the official site, towards the Pavilion end of the beach, whilst those without wristbands should go to the overspill area further north towards the George III Statue. Stewards will be on hand to guide those attending to both sites.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council's spokesman for Tourism and Culture, Councillor Ian Bruce said: “We are delighted to announce that an additional screen will be put up on the beach for the torch relay evening celebration and that this one will be positioned so that those without wristbands can watch the show.”

“It is important to ensure that as many people as possible can be part of our local celebrations for the relay. Those not lucky enough to obtain a wristband for the live event may still be able to watch the greatest Olympic show in town. “ The two-and-a-half hour show will include performances from chart-topping rapper Wretch 32, and dance act and Britain's Got Talent finalists Twist & Pulse. There will also be two ten-minute slots of locally-programmed entertainment, including a drumming spectacular involving local children from the 'Moving Tides' carnival, the bands Weapons of Sound, Magic Drum Orchestra and B-Sharp plus the audience.

Gates to the beach site will open at 4pm on Thursday 12 July with the show scheduled to begin from 5.30pm and the Olympic Flame due to arrive by 7.20pm. The Flame will arrive at the beach by rowing gig in the ticketed area before the last Torchbearer of the day will take it up onto the stage and light a celebration cauldron. The official show is scheduled to finish at around 8pm.

The event will be followed by a firework display at 9.30pm over Weymouth Bay.
