POLICE are seeking help to trace a man who targeted the home of an elderly couple in Weymouth.
The occupants told officers a man visited their home in Lynch Road near Fiveways asking about any unwanted jewellery they had for sale.
He returned 15 minutes later and broke into the house. Later on the couple noticed a jewellery box had been forced open and a gold necklace stolen.
PC Nicola Grant-Jones of Weymouth police said: “This is a nasty and callous act targeting two vulnerable elderly people which has understandably caused them both a lot of distress.
“We believe the same man attempted to commit the same crime again at a second property on the same street just minutes later.
“We are very keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this man acting strangely or attending the two properties in Lynch Road.”
Police have just released details of the burglary which happened a fortnight ago.
Witnesses and anyone with information can call police on 101.
