FOR Young Ambassador Tom Mules the national School Games marked the first of two big Olympic events in his 2012 calendar.
On Friday July 13, he will be carrying the Olympic flame at Portland Bill as part of the London 2012 Torch Relay.
The 16-year-old was selected to be one of 8,000 torchbearers across the country for his sporting prowess with the Tornadoes of South Dorset on Portland and his voluntary coaching work with the club and local schools.
Tom said: “The School Games was amazing.
“You see the Olympic Park on TV but it’s amazing to see it in real life and how big it is.
“The Aquatics Centre was really inspiring.”
The teenager, who snapped his cruciate ligament while skiing, is happy now to be off crutches and said he intended to start running training soon in preparation for his 300 metres of the relay.
He added: “I’m looking forward to it.”
