EVENTS to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee dominate this week’s community news.
IN Frampton there will be a Flower Festival from Saturday, June 2 until Tuesday, June 5. The church will be open daily from 9.30am until 5.30pm to allow people to view the flower arrangements.
On Sunday, June 3 there will be a thanksgiving service in the church, starting at 10.30am.
Other events on Saturday, June 2 will include the judging of the best decorated house.
There will also be the Beating the Parish Bounds, which will take the form of 3 organised walks of varying length, which will finish at specified points on the Frampton village boundary. On the return there will be a barbecue (free to participants) and a bar.
The leaders of this event are Mike Wright, Cynthia Whyte, Peter Cox and Jill Vines.
On Sunday, June 3 there will be a Picnic on the Green. Everyone is asked to bring their own picnic. Entertainment is planned to include balloon modelling and a table top sale.
There will also be Rafts on the River during the afternoon.
Jubilee coins will be distributed to the children.
Pimms and Strawberries will be served in the Village Hall.
On Monday, June 4 there will be an evening performance by Frampton Footlights.
There will also be a bonfire, fireworks and refreshments.
Any changes to the above plans or confirmation of arrangements, times or venues will be included in a full programme of events, which will be delivered to every household, as well as being published in Frampton Village News.
RAMPISHAM residents and their immediate families will be sharing in a Lakeside Picnic (below the manor) to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.
This will take place on the Bank Holiday Monday, June 4. The manor is a perfect setting for celebrating such a wonderful milestone in the life of our sovereign.
STRATTON Diamond Jubilee Celebrations include a ‘Big Lunch’ picnic on the village green from 12 noon on Sunday, June 3.
Please bring along your own picnic and join in the fun. Commemorative mugs will be presented to the children in the Parish.
On Monday, June 4 there will be a barbecue and music centred around the Saxon Arms. This will take place in the early evening and will be followed by the lighting of a beacon at ‘The Clumps’.
RESIDENTS of Frome St Quintin are welcome to attend an informal lunch at Frome House to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Sunday, June 3.
Lunch will be served at approximately 1pm, but you are welcome to arrive any time after 12.30. Please let Kate or Christopher know if you plan to attend and if you have any particular dietary requirements (01935 83134 or katewhinney@yahoo.co.uk ) CATTISTOCK village will be decorated with bunting and there will be a Street Party from 12 noon on Sunday, June 3. This will take place from the Square and extending down Meadow View. Please bring along your own food.
You are encouraged to dress in red, white and blue – home made crowns and royal regalia are optional!
There will be a fancy dress parade for under 16’s and commemorative medals will be distributed to all village children.
At 2pm there will be village sports in the playing field, followed at 4pm by Hymns and Pimms.
There will be a display of memories and photographs of the Coronation and past Jubilee events. Commemorative mugs, made by a local potter, will be available to buy.
