Last weekend I was given devastating news about my health after a CT scan revealed my cancer had spread.
The consultant along with his team of doctors stood around my bedside to give me results of the scan.
When I broke down and wept at the news, the consultant, in front of his team of doctors, got down beside my bedside and held my hands and gave me words of comfort while I wept.
It wasn’t easy for his team looking on either.
I thank God that Dorset County Hospital has great compassionate people like this on board. Thank you to the consultant and his team.
It won’t get me well again but it gave me great comfort. A very big thank-you also to the little young nurse on night duty who on hearing I was feeling hungry disappeared into the night.
It was 4am and she returned with hot buttered toast balanced on a serviette, all done in darkness so as not to wake other patients.
What a wonderful kind young woman to go to the trouble to do this for an old girl.
I wasn’t lucky with my prognosis but I was lucky this time to have met great human kindness at Dorset County Hospital.
Thank you so much.
