I wish to thank the people of Westham East, I am very proud and honoured to be elected as their new Councillor .

I agree with Dr Alan Chedzoy that the changes to police, health, adult social care, school governance, will mean less control and accountability of local public services.

The reductions in police numbers, more power to doctors/commissioners will result in cuts to services, and less choice.

Rationing of health care for patients and closures of day centres are examples of how decisions about services will be taken with little or no public accountability and confusing governance.

At Weymouth and Portland Borough Council we need more accountability, transparency, openess and better corporate governance, so the public can see which councillors and political parties voted for what, especially at full council meetings.

Any changes to local democratic accountability and public services must result in a more informed public, better choice, better services and more openess.
