I would like to clarify a few points raised by Brian Sneddon’s letter ‘I parked, but no chance to ride’ (Echo, April 30) about the services provided at the Wey-mouth Mount Pleasant park and ride site.

The X11 service, run by West Dorset District Council in partnership with First Group, operates a weekday service to Dorchester town centre from Monday to Friday. The Weymouth Town service is operated by Dorset County Council and runs Monday to Saturday, (and Sunday between April and September inclusive).

The leaflet to which Mr Sneddon refers is a promotional leaflet produced by Dorset County Council for the service into Weymouth town centre. While the county council leaflet does mention the X11 service, West Dorset District Council has produced its own promotional material specifically for this service, and all this information (including a timetable) is displayed fully at the Mount Pleasant site.

Full information is available online at www.dorsetforyou. com/parkandride/weymouth, and by calling Dorset Direct on 01305 221000.

The charge for parking all day for the Weymouth Town service increases to £2.50 in May and again to £3.50 in July (except during the London 2012 Olympic sailing events).

The charge for parking all day to use the X11 service remains at £1.50.

During the period of the Olympic sailing events in Weymouth and Portland these services will be suspended and will not run between July 27 and August 12, inclusive. Residents should seek alternative means of public transport during this period.
