A STATE-OF-THE-ART visitor centre will open its doors next week.
The RSPB centre in Weymouth’s Swannery car park has been undergoing refurbishment and will reopen on Monday, May 14.
It will be known as the Wild Weymouth Discovery Centre. The new centre will act as a welcoming point, showcasing the wetlands reserve. Among the new features are screens showing video and live footage of wildlife.
There will also be information boards and large reserve maps and full length blackboards.
Visitors can use a coffee shop, a toilet with baby changing facilities – and access for disabled people has been improved.
There will also be free Wi-Fi.
The opening event will be attended by local and national conservation partners, leisure chiefs, schoolchildren, South Dorset MP Richard Drax and the Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Graham Winter.
