OCCUPANTS of a block of supported housing flats for young people escaped unharmed after a fire broke out.

Fire crews were called to the premises in Wollaston Road, Dorchester, at around 9.20am yesterday and arrived to find smoke coming from a first floor flat.

It was initially thought someone was inside the property but all of the occupants were accounted for within minutes of the firefighters’ arrival.

The blaze was extinguished and one 19-year-old woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

A fire investigation officer was at the scene yesterday trying to determine the cause of the blaze.

The room where the fire started was damaged by the fire.
