Sticker Campaign

A FISH and chip shop manager is looking forward to feeding an influx of visitors to Portland during the 2012 sailing events.

Chris Willis, who runs Daniels Fish and Chips in Fortuneswell, is proud to support the Bring on the Games sticker campaign being run by the Dorset Echo, the borough’s 2012 operations team, the Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce and NHS Dorset’s Team Dorset Challenge.

The 28-year-old said: “I took over this place at the end of July and we had a lot of people in from the sailing academy leading up to the test event.

“It’s definitely increased business, I can see it’s obviously going to get better.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Daniels to become better known in the area.

“Everyone should have these stickers up.

“I hope there will be a party atmosphere for two weeks next year.”

World record

TICKETHOLDERS to the London 2012 Games are being asked to help set a new world record for the most people offsetting their travel carbon to a single event.

BP Target Neutral, a not-for-profit carbon management programme, is supporting London 2012’s ambition to be the most sustainable Games possible, by urging millions of spectators to sign up to the scheme for free.

The programme aims to encourage people to reduce the miles they cover in their cars, or to improve the way they drive.

Sing your heart out

BE AN Olympic singer - Coastal Voices needs you.

The search is on for as many people as possible to take part in a singing project for the Cultural Olympiad celebrations in Weymouth to mark the start of the 2012 Games.

You don't have to be part of a choir to be part of the project, individual participants are welcome to join the massed rehearsals in each ‘hub’ location, and then either practise the scores on their own or look to join another choir's rehearsals for the piece.

There is no auditioning or selection process, simply fill in an online questionnaire at coastalvoices.co.uk

Travelling shows

ROADSHOWS will be travelling across the country to bring together the family and friends of British Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

P&G UK has partnered with the British Olympic Association and British Paralympic Association to create a programme that will support the family and friends of all Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes.

Research shows 78 per cent of retired Olympic and Paralympic athletes said their ‘nearest and dearest’ made a positive impact on their performance.

In addition to the roadshow, P&G will also ensure every athlete's mum gets to see their son or daughter compete at the greatest show on earth by providing free tickets to their first appearance at London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as part of its Proud Sponsor of Mums campaign.

The programme’s regional roadshows will start this month, visiting 14 cities around the country and will continue up to and throughout the Games.
