Oh how I agree with the point made about sirens in Weymouth in the Dorset Echo letters page “Town alive with sound of sirens” (Oct 5).

If you think it’s bad at Littlemoor, try living in Westham.

I don’t understand why. It never used to be like this. I know that the emergency services need to get to incidents as quickly as possible and sirens are necessary to warn other road users, and of course you can’t tell which service is most in demand unless you see the vehicle whose siren is sounding.

Sundays seem to be particularly bad. Could it be that more training needs to be given to the drivers of these vehicles as to the appropriate and responsible use of sirens.
