Weymouth’s bus shelters have been causing something of a stir recently over claims that new technological elements of them make excessive amounts of noise.
These shelters, we were told by DCC earlier this year, would bring the bus infrastructure into the 21st century with real time information displays. Due to the noise from the cooling fans for these displays, embarrassed council officials have switched off the display screens in bus shelters in Weymouth.
Passengers waiting at them grumbled it was like listening to a jet engine taking off.
Didn’t they expect that electronics installed in a bus shelter warmed by the sun on our Esplanade would get over-heated?
