HILFIELD SPINNING and weaving workshops will be on offer at Hilfield Friary throughout October.
Forthcoming workshops take place on the following Tuesdays: October 11, October 18 and October 25.
Two sessions are available: 10:30am – 1:30pm and 2pm – 5pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend, beginners as well as more experienced individuals.
The sessions are £ 5 each, tuition will be available and all materials supplied.

CERNE ABBAS “AN INTRODUCTION to Jewellery Making” is the title of two workshops coming up in the village.
They will take place on Wednesday, October 19, Wednesday, November 16 and Wednesday, December 7, each time from 7pm – 9pm.
The cost is £ 25 per session which includes all materials such as glass beads and quality findings in order to create stunning pieces!

ADVANCE notification of a much anticipated event in the village: Salisbury Cathedral Choir will be visiting St. Mary’s Church to give a concert of sacred music.
The concert will take place on Monday, November 14 and will be widely publicised.
It is therefore advisable to secure your ticket as soon as possible.

GIANT Hill will be the venue of a practical conservation day on Sunday, October 16.
This grassland hillside is crucial for the survival of five species of our downland Blues and constanct clearing of invasive bramble, scrubs and trees is required.
If you would like to participate in this important conservation work please come to the picnic area car part opposite the Village Hall for a 10am start.
The day will finish at 4pm so please bring a picnic lunch if needed.

OPEN Gardens: Every year the Open Gardens event divides its proceeds between a cause in the village and one outside.
It is time once again to bring your suggestions forward!

BELL ringing – could this be a new challenge and even hobby for you?
St. Mary’s Church is at risk of not being able to raise a bell ringing team.
This has resulted in a few Sundays where no bells have been rung.
Help re-establish an ancient art but don’t worry – it is not as difficult as it may sound!

FLOWER Festival: A huge Thank You goes to everyone who took part in this year’s festival.
The Church looked great, the performance by the Cerne Singers really enhanced the event and an excellent £ 307 for the Squibb Garden was raised.
So well done to everyone, an event like this requires a lot of thought and preparation.
Do visit the Squibb Garden when you are next in the village, its entrance lies behind the church and it is a real oasis of beauty and tranquillity.
BLUE Hills Theatre presents “The Travelling Stories of Thomas Hardy” on Sunday, October 16.
Come and enjoy rousing Victorian country dancing, catchy folk tunes and some of Hardy’s most famous poems!
This performance is suitable for ages nine and over.
The doors open at 6:45pm with poetry prior to the main event at 7:30pm.

For completion’s sake please be advised that Open Clinics will also be held in Hazelbury Bryan Village Hall on Wednesday, October 19 and at Wightman’s Orchard on Wednesday, November 2, both between 10:30am – 11am.
Just turn up, no appointment necessary.
Please remember that routine immunisation of fit adults and children are not recommended.
MEDICATION drops: The surgery would also like to advise patients that medication drops will now be carried out by non-clinical staff members to make better use of the doctor’s time.
This change will affect the Friday drops which will now be carried out after 3:30pm.
Please support this alteration by collecting your medication from your pre-arranged drop off point after 4pm.

MOVIOLA: “Mao’s Last Dancer” will be shown as the October film.
This is a film about a child prodigy who defects to the United States at the height of the Cold War.
Don’t miss it, it will be shown in the Village Hall as usual, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7:30pm start.
BUCKLAND NEWTON A SPECIAL “Songs of Praise” service will take place at the Holy Rood Church on Sunday, October 16.
Pene Kennedy, who was recently ordained Deacon at Salisbury Cathedral, will preside.
Do come along to hear some of your favourite hymns, the service commences at 6:30pm.
