A PENSIONER has praised a mum who handed in her lost handbag.
Marie Kathrens, 83, left her bag on a bench in Weymouth town centre on Friday afternoon, then returned to the bench to find it was gone.
It contained £60 in cash, bank cards, her house and car keys and two return train tickets to London.
Weymouth resident Mrs Kathrens borrowed money from her friend to get the bus home and was relieved to receive a phone call from Santander bank telling her the handbag had been handed in.
He said: “The bank told me that a woman with a baby had handed it in. I want to thank the angel who found and handed in my bag to Santander.
“I want her to know how grateful I am. I wouldn’t have been able to go to London to see my family without the train tickets.
“It shocks you to know that people are so honest, it goes to show just how good people really are.”
