THE two clubbers admitted to hospital have told of their traumas.

Joshua Morgan, 24, suffered from swelling of the brain after he was hit by debris and remains in hospital.

Speaking from Dorset County Hospital, he said: “I’m lucky I didn’t have bleeding on my brain.

“It’s now a case of seeing what happens. This could have been life threatening.”

Portlander Joshua, an instruction officer at the Verne prison, doesn’t remember much about the ceiling falling in.

He added: “I’m a bit annoyed that my weekend has been ruined by this. I would have liked to have heard something from Dusk checking that I was okay. I was surprised to hear that they were open again on Saturday.”

A teenage clubber who was hit by ceiling debris suffered a chipped tooth, a lump on her head and a possible fractured jaw.

Weymouth College student Catherine Alford, 19, said: “I spent all of Saturday in hospital in Dorchester and was then sent to Poole.

“I had to go back to the emergency dentist on Sunday and I am still waiting to find out if I have fractured my jaw.”

Catherine was enjoying the foam party with her boyfriend when they were both hit by falling masonry.

She said: “It felt like something out of a horror movie.”

She added: “In my opinion the staff weren’t good because people were still going in while I was outside waiting to get treated.

“The police shut down the club and said ‘get everybody out’.”

Catherine was due to start a new job in Weymouth College’s Jellybabies Nursery today but is unable to work.

Police praise club staff

Mike McCabe, licensing and enforcement officer for Weymouth’s Safer Neigh-bourhood Team, said there were no concerns about the structure.

He added: “The fire service carried out an inspection on Saturday morning.

“It’s an isolated incident, a one-off.”

PC McCabe praised the way Dusk staff took control of the situation.

He said the venue had a gold accreditation in the town’s Drink Safe scheme and has policies in place to deal with incidents.

He said: “The staff did an amazing job in what potentially could have been a difficult situation for them.

“People were evacuated in a controlled manner in five minutes.”
