A MAN was injured when his car ploughed into a tree in West Dorset and flipped over.
Police said despite the man suffering a serious head injury in the ordeal, he was well enough to be released from hospital after treatment.
The collision happened on the A35 at Morcombelake between Bridport and Lyme Regis about 3.50pm on Saturday.
Dorset Police said the blue Rover 75 was the only vehicle involved.
The driver, a 61-year-old man from Devon, had to be cut free by firefighters who attended from Bridport and Charmouth stations with hydraulic rescue equipment.
Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was taken by ambulance to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.
The road was closed for nearly an hour while the scene was cleared.
A police spokesman said the driver was due to be sent home yesterday.
