A Poundbury resident says she is fed up with looking out from her home to see a pile of builders’ rubbish.
Kim Jones, who lives in Great Cranford Street, said the area of Duchy of Cornwall-owned land opposite her home is constantly strewn with rubbish blown from a nearby building site.
She said she has made several attempts to get someone to clear the area but feels nobody is taking responsibility for the mess.
Mrs Jones said: “They are building to the side of this piece of land and it always looks a mess, the only time they clean it up is when Prince Charles is coming to visit.
“It wouldn’t hurt them to send someone round and clear it up.”
Mrs Jones, 46, who has lived at Poundbury for four years, said she has tried to get the Duchy to clear the land, as they own it, but they have told her the responsibility lies with the contractors carrying out work nearby.
She said: “It’s Duchy land and I just think it’s up to them to keep it looking tidy and it seems unfair that the residents have to look out on it.”
Mrs Jones said she has been unable to get hold of the contractors and her frustration has reached the point where she would be happy to go out and clear the rubbish herself, were it not for a wire fence around the site.
She said: “What annoys me is nobody seems to be taking any responsibility and they just all seem to pass the buck.
“If it weren’t for the wire fence there I would go over there and tidy it up myself.”
Mrs Jones added that there had previously been cows on the land and she recently witnessed a young calf get its head temporarily stuck in a cement bag.
Poundbury construction manager Peter James, from the Duchy of Cornwall, said: “The work in that area is coming to a conclusion and we have asked the contractors to tidy up as they leave it.
“We are aware of the concerns that have been raised.”
