ASPIRING young poets are being urged to showcase their work at Weymouth Library to mark National Poetry Day next week.
Library visitors can listen, enjoy or join in as resident group The Harbour Poets celebrate the day next Thursday with verse between 11.30am to 1.30pm.
Refreshments will be available and visitors can draw inspiration from the library’s collection of poetry and other resources, including DVDs, CDs and the internet as well as magazines and books.
Dorset Library Service Senior Manager for Reading and Learning Sharon Kirkpatrick said: “This is a novel and fun way to celebrate National Poetry Day at the library.
“Visitors can join in with their own prose or simply listen and enjoy the readings before exploring the rest of the library.
“Dorset has a rich heritage of poetry and it would be marvellous if we discovered a modern-day Hardy or Barnes to carry on that tradition.”
