AN EVENT held in Weymouth proved that being a dinosaur is just a state of mind.
Created to promote the art of Morris dancing among young people, the Dinosaurs Not Allowed event received huge support from the public.
All generations were assembled for a few hours as young, old and somewhere-in-betweens hot-footed it to Weymouth town centre to watch the proceedings.
A total of 17 teams of youngsters from the local area got their dancing shoes on, bringing together nearly three times as many teams as the first Dinosaurs dance in 2009.
The event was a huge success, with superb September weather, and included eight taster sessions for the audience to develop their skills.
John Clifford, the event director from the Open Morris Association, was delighted with the public’s encouragement.
He said: “It was brilliant. All the teams were there and we received massive support.”
To further strengthen the legacy of this opportunity, Ann Stiles of the Morris Mynahs has invited the Hampshire and Dorset teams to a children’s festival on the Isle of Wight.
