A COUPLE who have been married 40 years renewed their vows in Las Vegas.
Heather and Brian Round from Weymouth, moved to Dorset after getting married in August 1971.
Brian, 63, was in the Royal Navy stationed at Portland. Heather, 59, recently retired from the civil service. She was awarded the long service medal for her work with the Ministry of Defence at RNAS Yeovilton.
The couple have three daughters Lucy, 35, Caroline, 30, and last year’s Weymouth Carnival Queen Natalie, 26.
The couple booked a holiday to Las Vegas and a couple of weeks before they were due to fly out Heather mentioned to Brian that there were wedding chapels out there and suggested that they renew their vows.
She said: “Brian said let’s do it. So we organised it all over the internet. It was a spur of the moment thing.
“It was really lovely and romantic.
“It was quite an emotional day.”
Their three daughters were able to watch the wedding over the internet.
Heather said that the years had flown past together. She added that the couple’s secret to a long and happy marriage was keeping the romance alive, give and take and getting on together.
