AN ARRAY of unusual pieces will go under the hammer at a vintage clothing auction at Duke’s Grove auction house in Dorchester next week.
Intriguing items at the sale on Tuesday include a rare feather cape, pictured right, with a variety of feathers including peacock, which is expected to attract international interest.
Other lots include a collection of 1940s and 1950s clothing, an early 19th century cream silk gown, a silk patchwork fragment believed to have been worked by a friend of Charlotte Bronte, a 19th century hand painted fan, Mulberry fabrics and paisley cloth.
Deborah Doyle from Dukes said: “Vintage clothing is so popular today not only with women, but also men. The auction will also have a good collection of luggage, bags, shoes, accessories and military uniforms.”
