A FORMER beauty queen raised £1,200 for charity by jumping out of a plane.

Natalie Round, 25, did a tandem skydive with the Red Devils display team to raise funds for Weymouth Lifeboat and Rushton Dog Rescue.

The skydive was postponed once due to bad weather and visibility but Natalie said it was an amazing experience.

She said: “I feel amazing I’ve done it, an incredible experience I am never going to forget and would definitely do it again at any given opportunity.”

She added: “I was absolutely terrified on the way up, especially watching people in front step out of the plane.

“My legs went to jelly as my instructor suspended me outside for a few seconds before we jumped.

“We jumped from 13,000ft, went into free-fall for 6,000ft at a speed of 120mph. The rush was unbelievable.

“The free-fall and having the chance to steer the parachute were definitely the highlights. The worst part of the skydive was after we landed as it was over so quickly.”

Natalie raised £633.50 for Rushton Dog Rescue and £568.00 for Weymouth Lifeboats which came to £1,201.50 altogether.

Weymouth’s Carnival Queen 2010-11 said: “It was an unforgettable year for me and the skydive was such a perfect way to bring it to an end.

“My top three highlights of the year was carnival day itself as it was so memorable and overwhelming, attending the beach motocross where I started the race and spent the day with Weymouth and Portland Lions Club.

“But most importantly handing out the cheques for the monies raised on carnival day 2010 to the local charities and good causes.”
