How can the powers that be in WDDC sleep at night when they know that service users with learning disabilities are having their direct payments stopped. I know some learning disabled people who can’t go to certain services any more. The cost of the services is a mere drop in the ocean when compared with the cost of the new offices.
These vulnerable people are being told that they are able to go and get a job. What job? There aren’t many jobs for people without any disability. There will be fewer small independent shops in the town because they might close due to loss of business because people can’t park. Then there would be no chance of the people with learning disabilities getting jobs in that area.
They will say that the money for the building is from the capital account. To me, it’s money and it doesn’t matter what account it’s from. If I said I couldn’t pay HMRC tax I owe because I haven’t got the money in my current account I would have to transfer it from my deposit account. Obviously the government and local government don’t think the same way.
