ANTI-LITTER campaigners will be hitting the streets of Dorchester this weekend to ask shoppers if they love where they live.
Members of the Dorchester Stop the Drop team will be in South Street on Saturday, September 24 to ask people how they feel about their local area.
Love Where You Live Week is a national initiative urging people to sign up to six key principles encouraging people to take personal responsibility, work with neighbours to reduce litter, take responsibility for their immediate area, raise awareness over littering, make it easy for people not to litter and promote clean, green places.
The Stop the Drop team will be offering free personal ‘stub tidys’ for smokers to dispose of their cigarette butts and special wrappers for disposing of chewing gum.
Advice will also be on offer on the day for any residents who wish to organise a local litter pick.
The Dorchester Stop the Drop group has been responsible for the erection of 90 stainless steel cigarette butt bins across Dorchester town centre since 2009 in an effort to reduce cigarette litter.
