RESIDENTS in Purbeck are being asked to suggest the look of proposed new development in the district.

As part of a document to guide future development called the Core Strategy, Purbeck District Council has agreed to allocate land in Upton, Wareham and Lytchett Matravers.

Space for around 200 new homes has been allocated in Worgret Road, Wareham, around 50 at Huntick Road, Lytchett Matravers and around 70 in Policeman’s Lane, Upton.

Many of the homes will be ‘affordable’, including social rented and shared ownership schemes, and proposals would also include community facilities, such as health centres and recreation space, as well as areas for employment.

Councillor Gary Suttle, Leader of Purbeck District Council, said: “The council is keen to involve residents and interested parties in shaping these areas from the start.

“Planning officers from Purbeck District Council, parish councillors and developers will be at the events to discuss ideas. For example, how would you like the new homes to look? How would you use new public open space? What community facilities would you like to be provided?”

Local events are taking place in September and October:

• Upton Community Centre – Saturday September 24, 1pm to 5pm

• Wareham Corn Exchange – Tuesday September 27, 5pm to 8pm and Saturday October 1, 2pm-5pm
