SOUTH Dorset MP Richard Drax enjoyed bag packing at Portland’s Tesco so much that he is set to give it another go.
Mr Drax threw his support behind a charity challenge organised by Weymouth fundraiser Pauline Lewington at the Easton superstore.
They packed bags to encourage donations and raised £506 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Mrs Lewington, 64, is holding a series of events to raise £3,200 to undertake the charity’s trek in Peru next May, in memory of her late husband Ken.
She praised the Dorset Echo’s preview event coverage, which ‘encouraged supporters’ and added: “Our MP Richard Drax was brilliant, such a good sport. He just turned up put on his Alzheimer’s t-shirt and pitched in with the rest of us packing bags and chatting with everyone.
“So many friends and family turned up to help, the till staff were really encouraging and supportive and the customers were lovely letting us pack their bags and so generous with their donations.
“It was a real team effort and we had a fabulous day and raised £506 for the Alzheimer’s Society.”
She added: “In fact it was such a good day that Richard Drax asked if we could do it again and store manager Eddie Garlick agreed to us coming back on December 9 for a pre-Christmas bag pack.”
