FREE computer sessions for Dorset residents return to libraries this autumn.
People can learn how to surf the net, how to set up and use their own email account and how to get the most out of home computing.
Free classes are running at selected Dorset libraries thanks to funding by UK Online. Classes, which must be booked, are suitable for all abilities covering basic skills through to more complex online banking and other transactions.
The free sessions are run by experienced tutors, lasting around two hours a session and will take place in various libraries including Dorchester, Gillingham, Swanage, Wareham and Weymouth.
Sharon Kirkpatrick, senior manager reading and learning for Dorset County Council, said: “The sessions are an excellent opportunity for people to improve their online skills. Nationally there’s an estimated 10 million people who don’t, won’t or can’t use computers and the internet. Helping people to become digitally literate is an important step to inclusion and social wellbeing for individuals.”
